Tri-Community Living at Home / Block Nurse Program
is a community-based organization of local staff and volunteers working together in service to assist senior citizens of Newfolden, Viking, and Holt to remain healthy and active, residing in their own homes and neighborhoods as long as possible. We offer education programs to help family and friends care for older adults with long-term health conditions. Classes are taught in small groups by trained class leaders. Classes meet once a week.
Focus is on improving self-care by learning a new set of skills or “tools.” Topics include:
- Taking care of you
- Identifying and reducing personal stress
- Communicating feelings, needs, and concerns
- Communicating in challenging situations
- Learning from emotions
- Mastering caregiving decisions
